TEACHING PRACTICE: WEEK 10

DAY 39

28/10/2024, MONDAY

Today marked the beginning of the last week of our third-phase teaching practice. As I distributed the answer sheets of the diagnostic test to the students, I felt a sense of satisfaction seeing that some students who had performed poorly in the previous test had shown improvement, to a certain extent. Their progress, no matter how small, was a testament to their efforts and my teaching, and it filled me with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

However, as I glanced through the answer sheets, I was also struck by the realization that some students continued to struggle with certain topics. Despite my best efforts, there were still students who scored below ten marks, and it was clear that they needed additional support. As a teacher, it's essential to acknowledge and respect individual differences in learning. Every student learns at their own pace, and it's our responsibility to cater to their unique needs. With this in mind, I planned to use today's session to not only discuss the answers but also provide remedial teaching, focusing on the topics where students seemed to be struggling. By doing so, I hoped to clarify their doubts and help them build a stronger foundation in the subject.

DAY 40

29/10/2024, TUESDAY

Today was the second last day of my third semester teaching practice, and I'm thrilled to have completed all the portions, achievement and diagnostic tests. As part of our B Ed curriculum, we announced a school-based activity to commemorate the upcoming Kerala Day. We organized a drawing competition, poster making competition, and writing competition for the eighth standard students with the caption "innalakalile keralam". I was excited to see the students' creativity and enthusiasm.

As part of another school-based activity, I conducted a conscientization program on the topic "Maintenance of Mental Health Awareness". I chose this topic because I believe it's essential for students to understand the importance of maintaining good mental health. I conducted an interactive session with the ninth standard D class, where we discussed healthy lifestyle choices and practices to develop and maintain mental health awareness. The session was highly interactive, and the students actively participated in the discussion, demonstrating a clear understanding of the need for maintaining good mental health.

DAY 41

30/10/2024, WEDNESDAY

Today was the last day of my third-semester teaching practice at Government Vocational Higher Secondary School Pirappancode, and I was overwhelmed with emotions. As I walked through the school gates for the final time, I couldn't help but feel a mix of sadness, gratitude, and accomplishment. My last day of teaching practice was bittersweet, and I struggled to come to terms with the fact that my time at this wonderful institution had come to an end.

As part of our school-based activity in connection with Kerala Piravi Day, we organized a poster making, writing, and drawing competition for the students. Today, we distributed gifts to the winners, and it was heartwarming to see the excitement and joy on their faces. The competition was a huge success, and I was impressed by the creativity and talent displayed by the students.

As I reflect on my journey, I'm filled with a sense of nostalgia and longing. I'm going to miss everything about this school - the students, the teachers, the affiliate teacher who was incredibly supportive, and the overall energy of the place. My students were cooperative, respectful, and treated me like a sister, which made my experience even more special. I carry with me valuable insights, unforgettable memories, and a renewed passion for teaching. The pain of leaving the school, the students, and the teachers still lingers in my heart, and I know it will take time to come to terms with the end of this chapter.
