3 SEM: WEEK 09

 DAY 34

21/10/24,MONDAY

Today was a productive day at school. I reached school at 9:50 AM, signed the register, and headed to my classes. During the second hour, I taught my scheduled class, and since I had completed my portions, I started giving out notes to the students.

In addition to my regular class, I also received some substitutions in 8B, which I completed by providing notes to the students. Furthermore, I got 2 substitution on 9D, where I had to complete my portion on "Hemodialysis and kidney transplantation"  and excretion in other organisms and in plants The lessons went smoothly, and the students were engaged throughout.

During the lunch break, we distributed lunch to the students. After completing my tasks, I left school at 3:30 PM, feeling fulfilled and satisfied with the day's events.

DAY 35

22/10/2024, TUESDAY

Today was a fulfilling day at school. I began the day by reaching school at 9:00 AM and signing the register. I had a productive second period with 9D, where I discussed the final portion of the chapter on respiration and excretion focusing on excretion in plants. The lesson went smoothly, and I was pleased to see the students grasp the concepts with ease and today's class  marks and bring closure to the lengthy chapter on respiration and expiration.

During the lunch break, we distributed lunch to the students. Unlike other days, I didn't receive any substitutions, allowing me to focus on my scheduled classes.

With my tasks completed, I left school at 3:30 PM, feeling content and satisfied with the day's accomplishments.

DAY 36

23/10/2024 , WEDNESDAY

Today was the day I administered the achievement test to the 9D class. I had a period with them during the first hour, and as I entered the classroom, I was pleased to see that the students are ready with papers to write the test. I had carefully prepared a set of questions worth 25 marks, covering the topics of respiration and excretion, and allotted them 45 minutes to complete the test.

The questions were designed to assess their understanding of the subject, with a mix of easy, average, and difficult questions. I presented the questions on a slide, and as the students began writing the exam, I monitored them to ensure that they answered the questions on their own without copying. The purpose of this test was two-fold: to help the students gain a deeper understanding of the topic and to identify any areas where they may be struggling, which would enable me to adjust my teaching approach accordingly. At the end of the period, the students returned their answer sheets, and I looked forward to reviewing them and gaining valuable insights into their understanding of the subject.

DAY 37

24/10/2024, THURSDAY

Today, I reviewed the answer sheets from yesterday's achievement test and distributed them to the students during my fifth period class with 9th standard. However, as I went through their answer sheets, I couldn't help but feel a little unsatisfied with their results. The highest score was only 21, and some students scored below 10, with marks as low as 5 and 7. This was concerning, and I wondered if some students hadn't studied for the test at all.

As I distributed the answer sheets, I could feel the tension in the air. To address this, I decided to use the period to review the questions and answers with the students. I made it a point to approach the discussion in a neutral and supportive manner, avoiding any negative comments or comparisons. Instead, I focused on creating a safe and encouraging environment, where every student felt valued and respected. I asked each of them to share their difficulties in studying and understanding the material, and listened attentively to their responses. Through this discussion, I realized that the portions on respiration and certain aspects of excretion were particularly challenging for them. I took this opportunity to clarify these concepts once again, discussing each question and answer in detail. I also asked the students to note down the key points in their notebooks, ensuring that they had a clear understanding of the material. By the end of the session, I felt confident that the students had gained a better grasp of the subject, and that we had collectively taken a positive step forward.

 DAY 38

25/10/2024, FRIDAY

Today was the day I administered the diagnostic test to my 9D students, specifically targeting the areas where they struggled or lost marks in the previous tests.

The test focused on the portions of alveolar exchange of gases, kidney diseases, and excretory organs, cellular respiration which I had identified as challenging for them. The question paper consisted of 20 questions, divided into 3 sections of five marks each, including multiple-choice questions, match-the-following, and true or false questions. It took me around 25 minutes to distribute the questions through the projector and collect the answers, as the test required only single-word answers and didn't take long for the students to complete. I ensured that the students wrote the exam on their own, and after they finished, I collected their answer sheets.

With all my portions covered, I took the opportunity to discuss some important topics with the students, reinforcing their understanding of the subject matter.
