3rd SEM WEEK 05
DAY 01
23/09/2024,MONDAY
Back to school:
Today marked the eagerly awaited return to school after a refreshing holiday break. For us, it signaled the beginning of our second spell of our first teaching practice phase. Eight of us arrived at school at 9:15 AM, eager to start the day.
Today I had a class on 8B during the second period. I had meticulously planned the first lesson of our new chapter, "Let's Regain Our Field," focusing on food security, scarcity, and the crises in the agricultural field. Utilizing engaging slides, I delivered the lesson smoothly.
The students, though slightly sluggish after the holidays, were cooperative and responsive. I leveraged our shared agricultural background to captivate their interest. By the end of the lesson, they were fully engaged.
After a satisfying lesson, we distributed lunch, followed by the school's dispersal at 3:30 PM, marked by the national anthem.
*Teachers' Meeting: Preparing for NAS*.
A meeting with teachers ensued after the school hour, where we were invited to join the discussion. The focus was on the upcoming National Achievement Survey (NAS) test in October. We received valuable instructions on preparing students for this critical assessment.
DAY 02
24/09/24, TUESDAY
A SUCCESSFUL TEACHING DAY : OBSERVATIONS AND FEEDBACK
Today was a special day at school. Our option teacher and general teacher visited to observe our classes and provide valuable feedback. They were visiting us for the first time in this phase of teaching practice. I prepared thoroughly, using charts, activity cards, and a solid lesson plan.
My class with 9D went smoothly during the first period. Initially, I was nervous, but as the class progressed, I became more confident and executed my lesson plan effectively.
*Teaching the Human Respiratory System*
The lesson focused on the human respiratory system and its parts. Students grasped the topic well, and their responses were impressive. Using charts for activities proved particularly successful.
After class, my option teacher offered constructive feedback, which I greatly appreciated. The general teacher also observed and provided feedback on my reflective journal.
During the 3rd period, I had a substitution in 9B, where I taught the topic the same topic human respiratory system. Despite not being their regular biology teacher the students were very cooperative and listened patiently.
Later, I distributed lunch and helped with paper distribution in 9D, 9A, and 8D due to my tutor's absence. We wrapped up the day at 3:30 PM as usual.
DAY 03
25/09/2024, WEDNESDAY
Today was an unusual day at school, with no regular classes but plenty of substitutions to keep me on my toes.
I arrived at school at 9:15 AM, signed the register, and began my day.
My first substitution was in 9A, where I took attendance and engaged the students in some fun activities to keep them entertained.
Later, I substituted for my own class, 8B, during the fourth period. We dove into the fascinating topic of "Soil: The Basis of Food Security" and explored the vital role of microbes in providing fertilizers. The students grasped the concept well, and I was impressed by their response.
After the lesson, I distributed answer sheets and reviewed them for corrections. A few marks needed adjusting, but overall, the students did well.
During the fifth period, we took a break for lunch.
After lunch, I taught 9D , covering the topic of ventilation. The post-lunch slump was evident, but with some effort, I managed to re-engage the students in the lesson.
With no more classes, I wrapped up my day and left school by 3:30 PM.
Despite the unconventional schedule, today was productive and fulfilling. Seeing my students understand concepts and participating actively in class made it all worthwhile.
DAY 04
26/09/2024, THURSDAY .
Today was a dynamic day at school, filled with teaching, substitutions, and unexpected interruptions. My day began at 9:50 AM, where I signed the register and prepared for my classes.

Next, I taught 9D, and despite a brief interruption from another teacher distributing exam materials, the class remained focused. We explored important concepts, and I was pleased with their progress.
As I left school at 3:30 PM, I reflected on the day's accomplishments. Overcoming unexpected challenges and connecting with students made it a fulfilling day. Tomorrow brings new opportunities to inspire and educate.
