TEACHING PRACTICE: WEEK 04

DAY 01
19/08/2024 MONDAY

Today marked the 12th day of my teaching practice, and it was a busy day! I arrived at school at 9:15 a.m. and signed the register. As the teacher of 8B was running late, Noushad Sir asked me to take attendance for the class. I reached 8B, took attendance, and asked the students to note down the pending notes for Basic Science.

Later, their class teacher arrived, and I left the class. During the second period, I had another class with 8B, where I taught my last lesson "ORGAN SYSTEM AND LEVELS OF ORGANISATION" using videos and relatable examples. The students seemed to understand the concepts well.

In the third period, I substituted for another class with 8B, where we discussed the answers to questions from the "Let's Assess" section. I was thrilled to see that the students had grasped the material I taught earlier. I then asked them to complete the remaining notes.

During this time, our HM announced the launch of the Junior Red Cross (JRC) program in our school. The students were eager to learn more and participate. I explained the procedures and how to get involved in JRC.

Today marked the end of the portions for 8B. Later, I assisted teachers with the National Merit Scholarship exam for 6th and 9th standard students. Although the students were noisy, we managed to deliver the questions via projector and correct the answer sheets.

Due to the delayed test, I couldn't serve lunch on time and ended up eating at 1 p.m.

During the 5th period I had class on 9D where I teach the topic "DOUBLE CIRCULATION AND HEALTH OF THE HEART".Using slides and effectively using blackboard I was successful in transacting the topic to my students.

In the afternoon, I had no more periods, but I helped ensure the students left the school premises in an orderly fashion by 3:45 p.m.

DAY 02
21/08/2024 WEDNESDAY

Today was the 13th day of my teaching practice. I arrived at school at 9 a.m. and signed the register. During the 1st period, I had a substitution in 9B, where I taught the topic 'Absorption of Nutrients, Blood, Tissue Fluid, and Lymphatic System' despite not being their regular biology teacher. The students were very cooperative and listened patiently.

In the 2nd period, I had another substitution in 6C. The students welcomed me warmly, and I easily got acquainted with them by asking their names. Interestingly, some students showed an interest in singing, and I encouraged them to showcase their talent. They sang beautifully in front of the class!

During the 3rd period, I had class with 9D, where I taught my scheduled lesson "ECG, PULSE, BLOOD PRESSURE". We distributed lunch at noon, and by 3:40 p.m., we wrapped up the day and left school.

It was a wonderful day, and I'm grateful for the opportunities to connect with different classes and students.

DAY 03
22/08/2024 THURSDAY

"Today marked the 14th day of my teaching practice and the second-last day of my first spell. I arrived at school at 9 a.m, signed the register, and began my day as per the timetable. During the 5th period, I had a class with 9D, where I taught them about "TRANSPORT IN PLANTS{ VASCULAR TISSUES} .

After distributing lunch at noon, I headed to 9D's class, eager to explore this complex topic with them. I was thrilled to see that the concept became clear to them, and they showed a good understanding of the material. It was a heartwarming moment for me as their teacher!

We wrapped up the day at 3:40 p.m. after ensuring that all students have left the school premises. I'm grateful for another productive day and look forward to my final day of this teaching practice spell tomorrow.

DAY 04
23/08/2024 FRIDAY

Today marked the 15th and final day of my first teaching practice spell. I arrived at school at 9 a.m, signed the register, and began my day as per the timetable. During the 2nd period, I had period on 8B and reviewed their notebooks since I had completed the portions.

We distributed lunch at noon, the NSS volunteers from UIT Pirappancode organized a quiz on "National Space Day", and the vibrant brains of classes 5, 6, and 7 participated. I was impressed by the emerging students' talent and knowledge, and they even won a prize!

During the 6th period, I taught 9D their last lesson "CONDUCTION IN PLANTS". I showed videos from Samagra and discussed questions from the 'Let's Assess' section. 9D, was the class that I taught first. The students were incredibly loving. I bid them farewell for a month, looking forward to seeing them after Onam exams and holidays.

As the day concluded, we met with all the teachers and said our goodbyes. I felt a tinge of sadness, but it dissipated when I thought about returning after some time. From day one to day 15, I was more active than ever, constantly engaging with students and teachers. This 15-day experience was truly great, and I'm grateful to God for the opportunity.
