ASSEMBLY BY ENGLISH DEPARTMENT

In a powerful and thought-provoking assembly conducted by the English Department today, students and faculty came together to address a critical global issue—violence against women. The theme, aligned with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, aimed to raise awareness and spark conversations about the need for change.
The assembly commenced with a solemn prayer, setting a contemplative tone for the proceedings. Shilpa, with grace and poise, took on the role of anchor, guiding the audience through the diverse and impactful segments of the program.

Adeena, with unwavering sincerity, administered the pledge, emphasizing the collective responsibility to stand against violence and injustice towards women. The assembly then took a reflective turn with Anusree sharing a profound thought for the day: "If we are to fight discrimination and injustice against women, we must start from the home, for if a woman cannot be safe in her own house, then she cannot be expected to feel safe anywhere."

Parvathy added an enriching dimension to the assembly by introducing a new word, 'Diatribe,' urging everyone to be aware of and challenge forceful and bitter verbal attacks against individuals or causes.

Karthika N., with journalistic flair, delivered the latest news headlines, keeping the audience informed about current events. Jusna followed with a moral story, providing a narrative that resonated with the day's theme, reinforcing the importance of empathy and understanding.

Aparna then took the stage, delivering a compelling speech on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, shedding light on the global significance of the day and urging everyone to be agents of change.

The assembly took an interactive turn with Reshma and Varsha conducting a quiz session, engaging the audience in discussions that further deepened their understanding of the issue at hand. Muhsina contributed a book review, showcasing literature's role in fostering awareness and empathy.

Naseer Sir, providing valuable feedback, commended the English Department for orchestrating an assembly that not only informed but inspired. The students' active participation demonstrated a collective commitment to creating a safer and more equitable world.

The assembly reached its crescendo with the harmonious rendition of the national anthem, symbolizing unity and shared commitment. The English Department's initiative was not merely an assembly but a catalyst for change, empowering voices to speak up against violence and stand in solidarity for a world free from fear and discrimination.
